#GutenMorgenMzansi: Lewandowski is Germany’s Footballer of the Year

The award is voted for by German football writers who are members of the Association of German Sports Journalists.

Robert Lewandowski and have been named Footballer of the Year 2021 by popular German sports magazine Kicker.

Lewandowski could not be denied the title back-to-back, following a record-breaking 2020-21 Bundesliga campaign with Bayern München.

The Bavarians won their 30th Bundesliga title and their ninth in a row, where he scored 41 goals to break Germany and Bayern legend Gerd Müller’s long-standing scoring record of 40 goals in a single season.

The Poland striker is the reigning Fifa Best Men’s Player, an award he won in 2020 after Bayern did a clean sweep of all domestic (Bundesliga and German Cup), continental (champions League) and global (Club World Cup) trophies.
