Russell Wilson and Ciara join MLS’s Seattle Sounders FC ownership group

The NFL star quarterback Russell Wilson is the latest American sports star to buy into the MLS.

NBA star James Harden has a five percent stake in MLS franchise Houston Dynamo.

NFL star Russell Wilson has joined the ownership group of Major League Soccer (MLS) club Seattle Sounders.

Wilson, who plays quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, is married to R&B singer Ciara.

Their family have joined as part of a group of 11 families with direct ties to city of Seattle that have agreed to take on the stake owned by Joe Roth.

Roth, who is famous for movie-making, spearheaded the Sounders’ successful MLS expansion bid in 2007.

In the group alongside the Wilsons are current and former Microsoft executives and hip-hop star Macklemore.
