CONTROVERSIAL: Xhaka and Shaqiri celebration

So, Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri could be in trouble for the way they celebrated their goals for Switzerland against Serbia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Xhaka and Shaqiri made the double eagle gesture, which is similar to that of the Albania flag’s black double eagle silhouetted.

There are ethnic tensions between Albania and Serbia because of the Kosovo War that ended as recent as 1999, and both Xhaka and Shaqiri are from Kosovo.

Yugoslavia, which was made up of Montenegro and Serbia, used to control Kosovo until the war, and many have seen Xhaka and Shaqiri’s celebration as a dig because of the ethnic tensions between the countries.

FIFA plan to investigate and if found guilty, these two key players, who are key players for the Swiss could face a two-match bans.
